Even though I spent much of my life as a journalist working in the financial, international trade and general fields I am ashamed to say that until recently I hadn't paid a great deal off attention to the havoc that chemicals and toxins in personal care and household items could wreak on human health. For sometime I co-ordinated an enviromental action group and through that became involved with a Toxin Action Group which fought to have certain farm chemicals banned. Through these two groups I saw at first hand the effects of some of these chemicals. But my biggest toxic shock from encountering chemical abuse began after I joined the multi-levelling marketing company NEWAYS as a distributor. It was then that the remaining wool was pulled from my eyes. I had, and still have, great difficulty in accepting that manufacturers are allowed to put into their products substances which they know will cause their customers to suffer serious physical harm.
